PAST PROJECTS
Some of Elton John's greatest hits were performed at the National Library of Malta on 25th, 26th and 27th October 2019. This exclusive, intimate setting, together with some beautifully reimagined music arrangements and a fantastic line-up including Chiara, Gianluca Bezzina, Claudia Faniello, Ludwig Galea, Dorothy Bezzina, Paul Bezzina, and Raquela Dalli Gonzi, took three full houses on a musical journey, spanning an incredible career of hits from one of pop culture's most enduring performers.
Written by Dorothy Bezzina with music by Edward Mifsud, and performed on Teatru Manoel's main stage, this musical for children was delivered completely in rhyme, with memorable sing-along tunes and colourful costumes. It served as an ideal as an introduction to music, rhythm, and as an appreciation of the beauty of the Maltese language.
The Band's Visit, winner of 10 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, is based on Eran Kolirin's 2007 film with the same title. In this delightfully offbeat tale, set in an Israeli town that is way off the beaten path, a group of Egyptian musicians arrive disoriented, out of nowhere. Under the spell of the desert sky, the band and their provincial Israeli hosts move tentatively towards each other, from breaking bread to sharing secrets, suffering and – most profound of all – music.
Valentine's weekend 2020 came with a little extra drama! A sold-out concert featuring some of the most celebrated musical theatre love songs was held at Robert Samut Hall. The venue, a former neo-Gothic Methodist Church turned concert hall, together with a stellar cast including Thomas Camilleri, Gianluca Bezzina, Rachel Fabri, Eleanor Spiteri, Dorothy Bezzina, Ludwig Galea, and Ivan Vella, accompanied by pianist Edward Mifsud, set the mood for a perfect evening filled with heart and humour.
Best of Foo, a tribute concert dedicated to the chart-topping American band, Foo Fighters, featured a selection of top Maltese musicians playing some of the band's best-loved hits. Formed in 1994, Foo Fighters have received a staggering fifteen Grammy Awards, including the Grammy for Best Rock Album five times. In 2021, they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
